Forest Home

I want to let you all know that I have finally come to a decision that has been weighing on my heart for some time now.  I am leaving Forest Home and finding a new church home.  Please understand that I didn't come to this decision lightly and it was an extremely hard decision to make.

To the teens: I will miss seeing you every few days more than you will know; however, I will still be living in the same house and have the same email and the same phone number... so feel free to say hi!

I love you all!

Lasts

Today was a day of "lasts" for me.  The last time I drive home as a civilian.  The last time I am at my parents house as a civilian.  The last time I go to sleep as a civilian.  Tomorrow is a day of "firsts" for me.  I am so excited and I want to thank you for all of your prayers in getting this job.  Now I ask that you pray that God keeps me safe and protects me and my new brothers and sisters!

May God bless you in all that you do!

(Soon to be Officer)

road to success

The road to success is not straight
There is a curve called Failure, a Loop called Confusion, speed bumps
called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called
Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called
Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a
driver called Jesus, you will make it to a Place called Success! May
God continue to bless you

It isn't about you, but about GOD

From Boundless...

As Rick Warren famously said in his multi-zillion selling book The Purpose Driven Life, "It's not about you." Life is about God. God is the Creator of all, and all of creation, including me and you, exists to bring Him glory. This flies in the face of pretty much every message communicated to us since birth (even sometimes within Christian circles), but it is, in fact, the absolute bottom-line of reality. Believing and living otherwise is a never-ending, empty uphill battle.

Parenthetically let me add this. Before we dismiss God as an insecure egomaniac, let's quickly remember that He became one of us, entered into our suffering, and gave His life so that we could experience the primary purpose of our existence — to know Him. He defined Love by His actions. He did not create then abandon. He created and stayed and acted. He loved to the point of death and secured a path for our ultimate fulfillment: eternity with Him.

Remember this when you don't feel like life is fair or someone else is "achieving" more than you are.

And let me add this.  God wants us to prosper and wants us to be great for Him.  If you aren't prospering or getting blessings from Him, keep the faith they will come.  God is good all the time and all the time...

In Christ,

Denny

A thought

I have an idea but I don't want to start it unless there is some interest out there, so let me know if you would like to.

I want to start an e-discussion about the Bible.  This isn't to take the place of anything already going on nor is it to take the place of your daily time in your devotions and talking to God.

The outline and reason for this is two-fold; the outline will be questions you have and would like answers to, thoughts to ponder and discuss, and things you are learning about God in your life that you would like to share.  The reason I would like to do this is: there are many things in our own beliefs that we are uncertain of why we do the things we do and why we believe what we believe and the more you discuss these things the more you have to dig in and study God's word.  It will also be used for any personal prayer request that you have.  I ask that there are no specific prayer requests for others only general ones, such as please pray for my friend Joe or remember Suzy in your prayers today.

To keep things from getting out of control and making sure things are not taken out of context and therefore bad information getting passed around you will need a user name which will be approved by a moderator (As of now the only moderators will be myself and any pastor, pastor assistant, or pastor's spouse).

If this is something you would like to participate in please let me know.  My church in Tucson did this and it was amazing how much we learned from each other and how it made us dig into the Bible to find answers.

Love you all!

Denny

New Year's Resolutions...

I have been thinking about what to write for days.  I have come up with paragraphs of things to say to help you write your NYR (New Year's Resolutions).  But it boils down to these few things.

If you want to have a great year you have to believe it will be.

If you want to have that great job, great relationship, great grades, great etc, you have to believe that you are worth having them.  You have to believe will all of your heart that you are "fearfully and wonderfully made".

EVERY day when you wake up you need to live that day as if it were your last and seize every opportunity.

Put the extra in every day... the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is a little extra.

The difference between successful and unsuccessful people is the successful do the little things the others don't.  Be in that top 10 percent.  (By the way, it only takes 15 mins or so to do those little things)

Happy New Year?!?  You bet!  With a new set of NYR and an understanding of the little things to do to make them happen 2006 will be the best year yet.

Happy New Year and may all of God's blessings be poured on you this year!

I love you all!

A small excerpt from Left Behind book: Glorious Appearing

My king is a sovereign king. No means of measure can define His limitless love. No far-seeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of His shoreless supply. No barrier can hinder Him from pouring out His blessings.

"He's enduringly strong. He's entirely sincere. He's eternally steadfast. He's immortally graceful. He's infinitely powerful. He's impartially merciful. Do you know Him?"

"He's the greatest phenomenon that has ever crossed the horizon of this world. He's God's Son. He's the sinner's Savior. He's the centerpiece of civilization. He stands in the solitude of Himself. He's honest and He's unique. He's unparalleled. He's unprecedented.

"He is the loftiest idea in literature. He's the highest personality in philosophy. He is the supreme problem in higher criticism. He's the fundamental doctrine of true theology. He's the core, the necessity for spiritual religion. He's the miracle of the ages. Yes, He is. He's the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him. He's the only one qualified to be our all-sufficiency. I wonder if you know Him today."

"He supplies strength for the weak. He's available for the tempted and tried. He sympathizes and He saves. He strengthens and sustains. He guards and He guides. He heals the sick. He cleanses the leper. He forgives the sinner. He discharges debtors. He delivers the captive. He defends the feeble. He blesses the young. He serves the unfortunate. He regards the aged. He rewards the diligent. And He beautifies the meek. I wonder if you know Him.

"Well, this is my king. He's the key to knowledge. He's the wellspring of wisdom. He's the doorway of deliverance. He's the pathway of peace. He's the roadway of righteousness. He's the highway of holiness. He's the gateway of glory. Do you know Him?

"Well, His office is manifold. His promise is sure. His life is matchless. His goodness is limitless. His mercy is everlasting. His love never changes. His word is enough. His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteous. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. I wish I could describe Him to you."

"He's indescribable. He's incomprehensible. He's invincible. He's irresistible. Well, you can't get Him out of your mind. You can't get Him off of your hand. You can't outlive Him and you can't live without Him. The Pharisees couldn't stand Him, but they found they couldn't stop Him. Pilate couldn't find any fault in Him. Herod couldn't kill Him. Death couldn't handle Him, and the grave couldn't hold Him. That's my king!"

"And Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever and ever and ever! How long is that? And ever and ever! And when you get through with all the forevers, then amen! Good God Almighty! Amen!"

Who is YOUR K/king today?

Mary did you know?

The blind will see

The deaf will hear

The dead will live again

The lame will leap

The dumb will speak

The praises of the Lamb

Did you know...

This sleeping Child you're holding

is the great I AM!!!

Sometimes we need a reminder of who that sleeping Child is and what He did for us.

Jesus is the reason for the season.

desert

If you were driving from here to Cali you would see a lot of different types of scenery.  If your goal was to get to the ocean you would have to cross some mountains, go through some prairies and fields and also go through the desert.

We all go through deserts at one time or another.  But to get to the ocean you have to go through the desert.  See it is in the desert where we start asking God for direction.  It is in the desert where we ask God for healing or peace or just to be with us in our journey.  Sometimes when we are in the mountains we lose sight of God, but not in the desert.

If you are in the desert right now, remember three things.

1. God allows us to go through the desert to get to the ocean.
2. God is waiting for us to seek him.
3. The desert is only temporary if we ask for guidance and direction.

If you are in the desert today, rejoice for soon you will get to the ocean.

May God bless you and keep you throughout this week!

Denny
